March 12, 2019Michael Joseph Mathis died peacefully at home in Silverthorne, Colorado, on March 12, 2019. He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. Mike graduated from Harding High School and attended The University of Minnesota. Mike had a long career as a salesman and part-time entrepreneur.To say Mike lived a full, active and adventurous life would be an understatement. He loved outdoor activities including camping, hiking, traveling, boating, fishing, golfing, biking and skiing. He leaves behind many friends in Minnesota, Michigan, Arizona and Colorado.Michael is survived by his children Laurie Garland, Mark Mathis and his wife Karen, Debbie Higgs, and Cathy Hunt; brother Joseph Richard Mathis; and grandchildren Brett, Jeffrey, Anna and Luke. His wife, Doni Mathis, and his parents Joseph and Catherine Mathis precede him in death.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bristlecone Foundation, P.O. Box 1327, Frisco, CO 80443.A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 16 at Our Lady of the Peace Catholic Church, 89 Smith Ranch Road, Silverthorne, CO 80498.
